Detailed Information:
Treaty 11 was signed on several dates in June, July and August of 1921 between representatives of the government of Canada and the Slave, Dogrib, Loucheux, Hare and other Indians inhabiting the area 'commencing at the north-westerly corner of the territory ceded under the provisions of Treaty Number Eight; thence north-easterly along the height-of-land to the point where it intersects the boundary between the Yukon Territory and the Northwest Territories; thence north-westerly along the said boundary to the shore of the Arctic ocean; thence easterly along the said shore to the mouth of the Coppermine river; thence southerly and south-easterly along the left bank of said river to Lake Gras by way of Point lake; thence along the southern shore of Lake Gras to a point situated northwest of the most western extremity of Aylmer lake; thence along the southern shore of Aylmer lake and following the right bank of the Lockhart river to Artillery lake; thence along the western shore of Artillery lake and following the right bank of the Lockhart river to the site of Old Fort Reliance where the said river enters Great Slave lake, this being the north-eastern corner of the territory ceded under the provisions of Treaty Number Eight; thence westerly along the northern boundary of the said territory so ceded to the point of commencement'. This area amounts to approximately three hundred and seventy-two thousand square miles. The terms of the treaty state that the Indians would cede, release, surrender and yield up to the government all the aforementioned land, and to cede their rights, privileges, title and privileges to all areas in the Yukon Territory, the northwest Territories. In return, the crown agreed to put aside reserves for each band of Indian, not exceeding one square mile for each family of five. The crwon also agreed to grant to each chief a gift of $32, to each headman $22, and to every other idnian $12 pay to each chief an annual salary of $25, to each headman $15 and to every other idnian $5 gift to every chief a silver medal, a suitable flag and a copy of the treaty, resources to cover teachers and resources for the educationof the Indian children gift to each band ten axes, five hand-saws, five augers, one grindstone, and the necessary files and whetstones for the use of the lnnd. gift to each band resources for hunting, fishing and trapping to the value of $50 annually, For their part, the Indians agreed to conuct themselves as loyal subjects fo the crown, and to maintain good relations amongst themselves and between themselves and the settles.
