    Summary Information:
The Metro - Adelaide 'Warriappendi Secondary School Media Project' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) is aimed at making sure the students of Warriapendi Secondary School want to attend and take an active part in school.

Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. For more information see 'Shared Responsibility Agreement' below.

Please note: this Shared Responsibility Agreement was originally known as the Warriappendi Secondary School 'Making Students Want to Go to School' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA).
    Detailed Information:
    Purpose

The purpose of this SRA is to upgrade the multimedia equipment used to run the school's media studies program 'Nunga TV'. Nunga TV is screened once a fortnight on Channel 31 Adelaide.

The SRA will also see the development of a community media project, which it is hoped will result in the development of a Community Media Centre. The Warriappendi School aims to become a hub school for media studies, and plans to network with other high schools who also want to take part in Nunga TV.

    Shared Responsibilities

Parents in the community will ensure that their children attend school every day, and will support the project. Students will undertake and complete the certificate module of the Nunga TV program, will use a DVD report card to discuss their progress with their parents and will involve other school, TAFE and university students in the running of Nunga TV. Other community members, including elders, will provide input into the community media project, including advising on oral histories, cultural events and general interest stories. They will also attend workshops and media events, and act as both interviewers and interviewees.

Participating students will also commit to attending school regularly, and will abide by the school's 'No School, No Nunga TV' policy.

The Commonwealth Government will purchase media equipment, computers, video cameras, lights and microphones, and will help to develop the Nunga TV website.

The South Australian Government will fund the accreditation and certification of students who complete their certification module.

Rotary will mentor students and provide them with public speaking training.

    Performance Indicators

The school principal will report quarterly on the involvement of participants' parents in the project and that parents have discussed report cards with their children; and report annually on the number of students who gain a Certificate 1: Media Studies.
