    Summary Information:
The North Eastern Tasmania 'Family Wellbeing Course' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) is an agreement between the North Eastern Tasmanian Indigenous Community and the Commonwealth and Tasmanian Governments to establish a TAFE course for Aboriginal people as counsellors for people affected by family violence.

Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities tom provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding.
    Detailed Information:
    Purpose

To establish and monitor the results of a TAFE course for Aboriginal people as counsellors for people affected by family violence.

    Shared Responsibilities
The North Eastern Tasmanian Indigenous Community will strongly commend the course to community members, maintain active involvement with the steering group, provide feedback on the effectiveness of the course, and promote strengthened resilience within the community.

The Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (Cth) has agreed to provide $22,219. TAFE Tasmania has agreed to provide in-kind support for course delivery.

    Performance Indicators and Feedback Mechanisms
The program will be monitored by a North Eastern Tasmania Focus Group within the Tasmanian COAG Indigenous trial project, including representatives of the Tasmanian Aboriginal Education Association, the TAFE Aboriginal Programs Unit and funding parties.

The focus group will report to the COAG project team quarterly on the number of participants in and the level of satisfaction with the course.
