The Antakirinja Matu-Yankunytjatjara People are comprised of a variety of subgroups, including:

  • Antakirinja
  • Kokatha
  • Martu
  • Martutjara
  • Martu-Yankunytjatjara
  • Mulatjara
  • Yankunytjatjara


The Antakirinja Matu-Yankunytjatjara People were recognised as the traditional owners of approximately 76,000 square kilometres of land in and around Coober Pedy in the consent determination Lennon on behalf of the Antakirinja Matu-Yankunytjatjara Native Title Claim Group v The State of South Australia [2011] FCA 474.
