Detailed Information:
First registered in 1996, the Girringun Aboriginal Corporation registered a new certificate of incorporation in 2003 and also took over the operations of the Girringun Elders Reference Group Aboriginal Corporation. A revised Constitution was adopted in 2005 defining the membership, objectives and decision-making procedures for the corporation. In addition to the objective of maintaining and strengthening the cultural heritage of the Girringun peoples and achieving recognition of and exercising their rights as Traditional Owners, the organisation's objectives include a diverse range of related activities such as the pursuit of social justice, involvement in regional and local planning processes, economic development, and the protection of the environment.
