    The Protocol Agreement signed on the 8 October 2002 by the Alexandrina Council and Ngarrindjeri People is an agreement whereby both parties have agreed to collaborate on any future developments involving traditional lands within the council area.
    Detailed Information:
    A proper heritage agreement had not been entered into prior to work commencing on the Goolwa wharf, and the Agreement came into being following the discovery of Aboriginal remains near the Hindmarsh Island bridge at the wharf redevelopment site. The Agreement includes a $20,000 payment for monitors nominated by the Ngarrindjeri people to oversee future excavation work at the wharf precinct.
