| The Department of Corrective Services aims to provide community safety and crime prevention through humane containment, supervision and rehabilitation of adult offenders. Services provided include the development of culturally appropriate programs, the recruitment of increased numbers of Indigenous staff, cross cultural training to non-Indigenous staff and the maintenance of links with key community groups such as Indigenous Elders. The Department is committed to the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Justice Agreement and a reduction in the over-representation of Indigenous people in the criminal justice system. |
