Summary Information:
Newcrest Mining Ltd is a gold and copper mining company which was originally established as a mining subsidiary of Newmont Corporation in 1966. In 1990, Newmont Corporation sold a 19.9 percent stake in Newmont Mining to Poseidon Gold Ltd. Newmont Australia Ltd then merged with BHP Gold Ltd in 1990 to become the third largest mining company in Australia. The newly merged group was remaned Newcrest Mining Ltd. It continues to conduct mining operations in Australia and overseas.
