Belyando Shire covers an area of approximately 30,000 square kilometres in central Queensland and has a population of over 11,000 people. It is surrounded by the shires of Bowen, Nebo, Broadsound, Jericho, Peak Downs, Aramac and Dalrymple. The Shire also encompasses four national parks. The main industries of the Shire area include coal and gas mining, cattle grazing and grain production. The Shire Council is responsible for the provision of municipal services to the region.
