Tumut Shire is located in the western foothills of the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales, approximately halfway between Sydney and Melbourne. It includes the townships of Tumut, Adelong, Batlow and Talbingo as well as the villages of Brungle and Cabramurra. It has a population of approximately 12,000 people. The Shire covers an area of 3760 square kilometres of which 2315 square kilometres is State Forest or National Park. |
