In 1996, the Horsham Rural City Council and the regional office of the Department of Human Services identified a need to provide more effective Maternal and Child Health (MCH) nursing services to the Koorie community in the area.
The equivalent of one day's MCH nurse time per week is dedicated to the Koorie community. The morning session of that day is spent 'at clinic' in the Goolum Goolum Aboriginal Co-operative premises, and the afternoon session is dedicated to community visits, undertaking routine house calls, post-natal care, standard childhood immunisations and support work. |
