The Northern Land Council (NLC) and the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) have agreed to work together to provide quarantine surveillance on Aboriginal Lands in the Northern Territory. It is the first partnership of its kind to be officially recognised by Indigenous Australians.
The Agreement stemmed from the Indigenous Rangers Conference at Gulkula in which the growing co-operation of the NLC's Caring for Country Unit and the AQIS's Northern Australia Strategy was recognised. |
