Summary Information:
Title to land surrounding the township of Hatches Creek, an Indigenous community located approximately 275 kilometres south-east of Tennant Creek, was handed back to the Anurrete Land Trust for traditional owners by the Governor General Mr Bill Hayden on 22 October 1992. The land returned consists of a 2,065 square kilometre area, a part of the 4,000 square kilometre Wakaya-Alyawarra land claim, lodged under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 (Cth) by the Central Land Council on behalf of the traditional owners in 1980. A second part of the claim area, consisting of 1,874 square kilometres, was handed over to the Wakaya Land Trust.
