The ILUA lies within the Cloncurry and McKinley Shire Councils and the Gulf and West Queensland ATSIC regions.|
|Under the Yulluna Indigenous Land Use Agreement for Backlog Exploration Permits (ILUA), the Yulluna People have agreed to the grant of exploration permits (EPs) by the State of Queensland. The right to negotiate provisions of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) do not apply to these grants. This will enable the backlog of applications made to the State for tenements in the agreement area to be processed. Without this agreement, the longer timeframes of the right to negotiate process that would apply.
EPs may be granted to an 'Explorer' for up to five years, subject to the Explorer signing an 'Exploration Deed' and a set of 'Native Title Conditions' defined in the ILUA. The Explorer must also pay the compensation amount and execute the 'Ancillary Agreement' required under the ILUA.
On being granted a tenement, the grantees may conduct 'Work Activities' in the area.
EPs granted under the ILUA may be renewed, provided they remain subject to the conditions of the agreement.|
