Summary Information:
The Desert Peoples Centre proposes to establish a tertiary education and training institution that will become Aboriginal desert peoples’ place of knowledge. The Desert Peoples Centre will become a campus for both the Centre for Appropriate Technology and the Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education. The Centre hopes to provide education focussing on seven key themes: - language and culture; - learning, - knowledge sharing and communication services; - well-being and human services; - human expression; - land and resources; - technology and infrastructure; - livelihoods and economic futures. On-campus facilities are located in Alice Springs and are to be supplemented by remote study centres.
