The Desert Peoples Centre proposes to establish a tertiary education and training institution that will become Aboriginal desert peoples’ place of knowledge. The Desert Peoples Centre will become a campus for both the Centre for Appropriate Technology and the Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education. The Centre hopes to provide education focussing on seven key themes:
- language and culture;
- learning,
- knowledge sharing and communication services;
- well-being and human services;
- human expression;
- land and resources;
- technology and infrastructure;
- livelihoods and economic futures.
On-campus facilities are located in Alice Springs and are to be supplemented by remote study centres. |
