Summary Information:
The Northern Quebec Inuit Association (NQIA) was formed by the Inuit of Nunavik, of northern Quebec, as a response to the Hydroelectricity Project of James Bay which was encroaching on traditional Inuit land. The NQIA, in partnership with the James Bay Cree, responded to these pressures by taking the provincial government and Hydro-Quebec to court to force a stop to development on Inuit land.
