    Summary Information:
The Inuit Tapirisat of Canada (ITC) was founded in 1971. It is Canada’s national Inuit organisation. It represents four Inuit regions: Nunatsiavut (Labrador), Nunavik (northern Quebec), Nunavut, and the Inuvialuit region in the Northwest Territories. The ITC placed the original Nunavut land claim before the Canadian Government in 1976. Its role in the Nunavut negotiations was succeeded by the Nunavut Tunagavik Federation of Nunavut. The ITC is now known as the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK).
