The Deline First Nation Government (DFNG) is an Aboriginal public government which comes into existence on the Effective Date of the Deline Self-Government Agreement-in-Principle for the Sahtu Dene and Metis of Deline 2003 (AIP). At that time it will replace the Deline Dene Band and the Deline Charter Community. The AIP recognizes both the legislative and administrative powers of the DFNG in areas which include citizenship, language and culture, education, local services and elections. The government is composed of a Government Leader (the ?Ehkw’atide), a Main Council of 8 - 12 members, an Elders Council and a Justice Council. The Main Council is the legislative body of the government. |
