Ballarat is Victoria's second largest regional centre and one of Australia's largest inland cities. It has a population of approximately 84,000 people. It is located in the Central Highlands Region of western Victoria, and is approximately 110 kilometres north-west of Melbourne. Included are the townships of Learmonth, Buninyong, Miners Rest and Cardigan Village. The City of Ballarat covers a total area of 740 square kilometres.
The Wathaurong are recognised as the original inhabitants and traditional custodians of the land in the region. |
