The South Australian Department of Health is a government department responsible for health services at the state level. It provides leadership in health reform, policy development and planning. The Department focusses on well-being, illness prevention, early intervention and quality care.
The Department of Health is responsible for:
-Public hospital services;
-Metropolitan and country health service delivery;
-Environmental health;
-Communicable diseases, epidemiology, and health promotion and education;
-The Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science (IMVS);
-Breast Screen South Australia;
-Organ donation; and
