    Summary Information:
The first Croc Festival was held in Weipa in Far North Queensland in 1998. Its mission is to 'foster improvement in health, education and well-being of Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth in rural and remote areas of Australia and to assist in the development of their employability and interpersonal relationships.' Since that time, the Festival has grown to the extent that it now stages seven events across Australia every year. In 2005 it is hoped that nine events will be staged in locations such as Thursday Island (in Queensland), Katherine and Alice Springs (in the Northern Territory), Halls Creek and Geraldton (in Western Australia), Port Augusta (in South Australia) and Swan Hill (in Victoria), and Kempsey and Moree (in New South Wales).
    Detailed Information:
The Croc Festival aims to engage young indigenous and non-indigenous people from remote communities in a festival environment with a focus on the issues of health, education, sports, and visual and performing arts. Each event consists of a three day celebration comprising performances from participating schools and community groups, sports clinics, visual arts workshops, careers markets, health expos and cultural activities.
