| The Education Pathways Strategy is the first of twelve strategies developed as part of the Greater Shepparton Shared Responsibility Agreement. The Strategy was developed after an education summit in November 2004, and details an integrated approach that hopes to improve education outcomes.
The strategy is broad-based, covering all years of schooling and training for Indigenous students. Initial programs include
“- Developing individual education plans for Aboriginal students in government primary and secondary schools;
- Achieving a better understanding of why some students are not attending school regularly, followed by the development of strategies to address these issues; and
- Establishing a Koorie Early Childhood Network that will oversee the development of preschool to school transition support and the establishment of supported playgroups.”

In the future, the strategy will implement transition support services for school-leavers, increased part-time opportunities for school students and the development of two-year school plans. |
