Summary Information: | |
The Ringers Soak (Kundat Djaru) 'Maintaining the Community' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) is the second SRA signed between the Kundat Djaru Aboriginal community and the Commonwealth Government. The SRA is aimed at improving the environmental health and safety, as well as the general appearance of the community, through the provision of basic maintenance equipment, currently in short supply in the community.
Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. For more information see ‘Shared Responsibility Agreement’ below. |
Detailed Information:
Purpose
The SRA will improve the community’s appearance and environmental health and safety, which will help to reduce fire risks in particular. The agreement provides for basic maintenance equipment to be used and maintained by the community.
Shared Responsibilities
The local community will be responsible for securing and maintaining the equipment provided. Community members will clear and cut lawn and grassed areas, develop fire breaks and pick up rubbish, tidy up around their own houses, and take part in CDEP activities to maintain communal areas.
The Commonwealth Government will provide funds to purchase the equipment.
