The Western Desert Nganampa Walytja Palyantjaku Tjutaku Aboriginal Corporation represents people living in the Western Desert, in both the Northern Territory and Western Australia. The corporation’s name means ‘making all our families well’ in Pintupi/Lurtija and it runs ‘Dialysis House’ in Alice Springs, a place where renal patients receive dialysis training and are helped to keep their connection with country. The corporation’s objects include:
helping people on dialysis “get home on appropriate treatment of a recognised national standard”;
providing advocacy to members on issues of kidney disease; and
supporting renal patients while they are away from their communities. |
