Cairns Port Authority is a statutory corporation, owned by the Queensland Government. It owns and runs Cairns International Airport, the Port of Cairns, 1,100 hectares of land and property and ‘Cityport’ an urban waterfront development project. It is also ‘actively involved in the cooperative marketing and promotion of Cairns and Tropical North Queensland as a tourist destination and the facilitation of trade opportunities.’
