Summary Information: | |
The lease between the Northern Land Council on behalf of the Malak Malak and the Northern Territory Fisheries Division and the Northern Territory Department of Transport and Works was entered into in 1999.
The five year agreement covered 3 200 square metres of land near the Wooliana gate.
It replaced the earlier Browns Creek lease as the Market Gardens area was regarded as less susceptible to erosion (Fry c2001).
A boat ramp, entrance road and parking/turning areas have been constructed in the area. Increased access associated with the boat ramp has led to further environmental concerns (see Jackson 2004; Lindsay 2004). |
Detailed Information:
The lease included terms related to health, safety and environmental issues.
Under the lease, the Malak Malak received $8 000 pa for use of their land and the Northern Land Council received $500 for administration of the agreement.
