The Cancer Council Tasmania is ‘a community organisation that works to minimise the impact of cancer on all Tasmanians’ (Cancer Council Website, February 2007).
It is one of eight members of the Australian national non-government cancer control organisation, the Cancer Council Australia (formerly known as the Australian Cancer Society). ‘The Cancer Council Australia's goal is to lead the development and promotion of national cancer control policy in Australia, in order to prevent cancer and reduce the illness, disability and death caused by cancer’ (Cancer Council Australia Website, February 2007). |
