The Yuendumu Aboriginal Reserve of 2199 sq. km. was proclaimed in 1952 and became Indigenous owned land following the declaration of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act (NT) 1976. In post-colonial times, it was previously a baptist missionary, established in 1946.
This community has facilities including an airstrip, community health centre, women's centre, Mt. Theo-Yuendumu Substance Misuse Program (MYSMAC), Warlpiri Media and BRACS
Warlukurlangu Artists Association and Tanami networking.
Yuendumu is a traditionally oriented community with a strong ceremonial life. | |
