    Summary Information:
    Lloyd McDermott South East Queensland U16 & U18 Rugby Teams 'Southern Skies Tournament' Shared Responsibility Agreement (SRA) was agreed between the Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaCSIA), the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team Inc, Southern Skies Events and Brisbane Boys College. This Shared Responsibility Agreement will be utilised by the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team by using participating in the Southern Skies Tournament to encourage young men to stay in the education system. Shared Responsibility Agreements are agreements between governments and Indigenous communities to provide discretionary funding in return for community obligations. The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding.     Detailed Information:
    Purpose The purpose of this Shared Responsibility Agreement will be to engage Indigenous youth within the education system; it is hoped that by using incentives such as the Southern Skies Tournament this can be achieved. Shared Responsibilities The Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team will provide all training, team clothing and will also make contributions towards travel and accommodation costs. They will also monitor attendance, school exclusions, any unexplained absences and ensure individuals adhere to Codes of Conduct. In order to be considered for selection players will:
  • make a personal contribution of $100 towards costs;
  • be enrolled and attending school;
  • achieve an attendance target of 80% for 2 semesters in the year;
  • have no unexplained absences;
  • adhere to the Tournament Code of Conduct; and
  • complete a Sports Training Course. In addition, coaches will:
  • ensure the Coode of Conduct is adhered to;
  • have a valid ‘Blue Card’; and
  • and have a valid coaching accreditation. These are also Performance Indicators that will be provided by the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team. NOTE: This funding is subject to the partners entering into a legally binding funding agreement.
