| Taranaki Regional Council is responsible for an area which includes New Plymouth, North Taranaki, South Taranaki, Stratford and surrounds.
The Council seeks to achieve sustainable management of natural resources. This encompasses policy and planning functions; emergency response preparation; issue of resource consents; promotion of sustainable land management; river control and flood warning systems; transport planning and harbour management; pest control; and, recreation and cultural activities (Taranaki Regional Council, 2008). |
