The extract of the ILUA from the Register of Indigenous Land Use Agreements describes the area covered by the agreement as follows: The ILUA Area - All the land and waters within the area described in "Schedule 1 - Tennant Creek Municipality Boundary" to the Notice of "Alteration of Boundaries of Municipality of Tennant Creek" made by the Minister for Local Government in pursuance of section 30(1)(a) of the Local Government Act (NT), dated 29 February 2000, and gazetted in Northern Territory Government Gazette G10 on 15 March 2000 ("the municipality boundary"). Plus: All the land and waters within NTP 4440 to the extent that they are outside the municipality boundary. The Surrender Area Description - All that land described in the ILUA Area, excluding all that land described in the Recognition Area. (The Recognition Area Description - Lot 2079, 2080, 2081, 2083, 2084, 2085, 2087, 2088, 2089, 2090, 2091, 2093, 2095, 2096, 4436, 4438, 4439, 4440. Map - the Recognition Area is the areas shaded blue within the ILUA Area.) The area of the ILUA also falls within the jurisdiction of the Tennant Creek Council and the Yapakurlangu Regional Council.
Legal Status: Registered with the National Native Title Tribunal on the Register of Indigenous Land Use Agreements on 22 February 2008. This is an authorised Area Agreement under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth).

Summary Information:
The Town of Tennant Creek Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) was agreed between the Central Land Council (APPLICANT), the Northern Territory of Australia and the Patta Aboriginal Corporation on 22 February 2008. The purpose of the ILUA is to provide statements pursuant to the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) (NTA) which, in relation to the 'Surrender Area', detail the past extinguishment of native title, the surrender and extinguishment of native title by the Patta Aboriginal Corporation on behalf of the native title holders and also that the right to negotiate under the NTA does not apply to this agreement. The ILUA was registered on 22 February 2008, and does not have a stipulated period of operation.
