    The Southern African Institute of Steel Construction (SAISC) is a representative body whose goal it is to 'develop and promote the health and wealth of the steel construction industry in Southern Africa.' It is involved in marketing, education and developing the technological capability of the steel industry. SAISC membership consists of:
  • company members of the South African Iron and Steel Institute;
  • fabricators and erectors of structural steelwork;
  • companies and organisations interested in structural steel;
  • small, newly established steelwork contractors;
  • structural engineers, architects, quantity surveyors and project managers proficient in structural steel design and construction; and
  • individuals who want to be associated with the SAISC (see SAISC website c2008). SAISC is signatory to the Construction Sector Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Charter.
