| Yuelamu is a community of approximately 300 people in the Tanami Desert, 280 kilometres north west of Alice Springs. The main language spoken is Anmatyerre (see General Practice and Primary Health Care Northern Territory, 2008).
The area (also known as Mount Allan) was previously subject to a pastoral lease. In 1976 the lease was purchased by the Aboriginal Land Fund Commission for the benefit of the Mount Allan Aboriginal Community (Yuelamu - Mt Allan Aboriginal Community Artists, 2008).
The place forms 'one of the main honey ant dreaming sites for [the] whole area of central Australia' (Yuelamu - Mt Allan Aboriginal Community Artists, 2008).
