In 2007, Ngai Tuhoe, Ngāti Tuwharetoa, Ngāti Whare, Ngāti Rangitihi and Ngāti Whakaue came together to form the Central North Island (CNI) Iwi Collective. They were joined by Ngāti Manawa, Raukawa and affiliate group Te Pumautanga O Te Arawa in 2008.
These eight iwi, as the CNI Iwi Collective, signed the Central North Island Forests Iwi Collective Deed of Settlement with the Crown in June 2008. |
