Summary Information: | |
The Apudthama Land Trust is the entity responsible for the management of a large component of the traditional lands of the Injinoo people. There are small areas of land outside the Trust boundary that for historical and other reasons Injinoo people do not hold legal tenure over and yet are within traditional lands of the clan groups that comprise the Injinoo community.
The Apudthama Land Trust is the second largest freehold land Trust in Australia. There are nine board members elected by the community to manage the lands for the benefit of Traditional Owners.
The Trust has established the Apudthama Agay Aboriginal Corporation as a business and land management arm.
Injinoo is a small indigenous community in Northern Cape York Peninsula. It was formerly known as Cowal Creek and was established sometime before 1917, long before the nearby government centre of Bamaga. |
