The Canteen Creek Area Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) was agreed, under the provisions of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth), between The Northern Territory of Australia and Central Land Council. The purpose of the ILUA is to provide for the surrender of native title rights and interests in the ILUA area.

Details of the Agreement: Commencement: The ILUA is binding from the date when signed by all the parties. It has effect as an ILUA, and in relation to the agreed acts, from registration on 20 May 2020.
Native Title Provisions: Right to negotiate: The parties agree that the right to negotiate provisions of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) do not apply.
Extinguishment: The parties have agreed to extinguish native title upon registration in relation to the agreed acts.
Future act provisions: The parties agree to the surrender of any native title rights and interests over all the land and waters within the Canteen Creek Townsite. This includes the following areas: - lots 9, 13, 33, 35, 37, 38, 39, 40,41, 42, 43, 52, 54, 59, 61, 62, 63, 65, 66, 67, 69, 71, 72, 81, 84 and 85 on which community housing is situated; and
- vacant crown land areas which remain under Territory control and ownership.
Native Title in the Agreement Area: According to the Extract, the ILUA covers an area of native title claimed by the Canteen Creek claimants. No determination application has been made.
