The Yalata Community Incorporated (YCI) is a local government authority whose role is, among other things, to provide support and encouragement to local artists and to develop cultural development activities. The YCI also operates the Yalata Roadhouse. The Yalata Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) is managed by Yalata Land Management officers in accordance with the YCI's commitment to the preservation of unique coastal and inland landscapes. Land management practices include fencing, seed collection, revegetation, protection of cultural sites, rubbish collection and the operation of a native plant nursery.
