Cardwell Shire is situated between Cairns and Townsville in far north Queensland. Its administrative centre is the town of Tully which lies approximately 235 kilometres south of Cairns. The area of the shire covers 2,901 square kilometres which extends from the Kirrama Range in the west to the Tully floodplains, the Murray and Hull Rivers and the coastal beaches. It has a population of approximately 11,000 people. |
