The main purposes of the Biosecurity Act 2014 (Qld) (the Act) are to: - provide a framework for minimising Queensland's biosecurity risks, responding to impacts and biosecurity events;
- ensure the safety and quality of animal feed, fertilizers, and other agricultural inputs; and
- align Queensland's responses to biosecurity risks with the necessary requirements of accessing national and international markets for animal and plant produce.
The Act also manages risks associated with emerging, endemic and exotic pests and diseases. (Section 4, the Act) |
