    The Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council of New South Wales (AH&MRC) provides health and health-related services and 'is the recognized peak body and voice of Aboriginal communities on Aboriginal health matters in NSW.'

    It is formed by more than 60 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations in New South Wales and is a member of the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO). The AH&MRC is incorporated as a charitable, religious and educational institution.

    The principal aim of AH&MRC is 'to ameliorate ill health, suffering, distress and helplessness in Aboriginal communities by the direct provision of primary health care'.

    The AH&MRC was established in 1985 and was formerly known as the Aboriginal Health Research Co-operative (AHRC).
