| Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation (BAC) have entered into a joint venture agreement with a non-Aboriginal operator in relation to safari hunting of wild pig and buffalo. This will not only benefit Traditional Owners of the land on an economic level but will also allow them to spend time in and manage their traditional country. The joint venture will operate on land that is held by BAC on a ten year lease granted under the Aboriginal Lands Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. |

| It is proposed that the joint venture will operate top of the range safaris mostly catering for American and German clients. It is a condition of the agreement that Aboriginal Traditional Owner guides accompany each hunting expedition and Aboriginal involvement in the venture is seen as a key to the venture's success. Aboriginal guides will undergo training to supplement their traditional hunting and tracking skills, which will include weapons handling and care, health and safety issues, handling tourists and preparation of trophies. It is hoped that Aboriginal people will be involved not just as guides but in all facets of the venture. | |
