	The area of the agreement is defined as two separate areas:The Project Site, located at the southern end of the Cairns Esplanade covering an area of approximately 13.4 hectares; and the Sand Extraction Site, located east of the mouth of the Barron River covering an area of land and submerged seas of approximately 101.61 hectares. Both areas fall within the City of Cairns local government area.

Summary Information:
The Cairns Esplanade Project Indigenous Land Use Agreement (the ILUA) provides the consent of the native title parties, the Yirranydji People and the Gimuy Walubara Clan of the Yidinji People, for the development of the Cairns Esplanade project. This includes consent for all activities in relation to the project that are classified as future acts (acts which may affect native title). In relation to the project this includes: '(a) geotechnical and other studies; (b) the extraction and transportation of sand for use as fill; (c) the granting of any licences, consents or approvals under any Act or Regulation in relation to the establishment or operation of the project; (d) the granting of any tenure to the Cairns City Council over the project site; (e) the construction of all works necessary for or associated with the project; (f) the ongoing use and operation of the project site for its intended purpose.'
