The Western Australian Fishing Industry Council (WAFIC) is the commercial fishing industry's peak representative body in Western Australia. It also represents the interests of the pearling and acquaculture industries. WAFIC was established over 30 years ago in order to represent the interests of these industries and presently works collaboratively with government to establish strategies for the management of commercial fisheries throughout Western Australia. Members of WAFIC include those from regional fishing and industry associations and from exporting companies. |

As a representative body, WAFIC also acts as an industry representative for fishing, pearling and crown land acquaculture interests involved in native title claims. In this capacity, it acts as a respondent to such claims. | |
