The Ewamian People #2 Indigenous Land Use Agreement (the ILUA) gives the consent of the Ewamian People for the State to grant a lease to Telstra on which to construct a radio facility in Forsayth, northern Queensland. Without this consent, the future act provisions and longer time frames of the right to negotiate process under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) would apply to the grant. The lease is granted for twenty years with an option to renew for a further twenty years. The agreement allows Telstra to construct the facility prior to the agreement being registered as an ILUA. |
