| The four areas covered by the Agreement are located in the Opalton area and, in total, cover an area of about 97 hectares. The Agreement area comprises land and waters covered by the following: mining leases - ML95243, ML95258, ML95264, ML95265, ML95266, ML95274 and ML95275, and the following mining claims - MC95079, MC95081, MC95082, MC95084, MC95085, MC95086, MC95087, MC95088, MC95089, MC95090 and MC95091. All areas fall within the local government area of Winton. |
The Small Mining Project - Opalton Area - Stage One Indigenous Land Use Agreement (the ILUA) was made between native title groups, the Gurang Land Council (Aboriginal Corporation), the Queensland Government, the Mining Registrar, 21 miners and the Queensland Boulder Opal Association. It covers a total area of about 97 hectares near Opalton, in the Shire of Winton in central Queensland. The agreement allows the grant of seven new Mining Leases and eleven Mining Claims without the application of the right to negotiate provisions of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth). |
