| The areas covered by the Agreement are located north of the Garbutt Airport, also known as Townsville RAAF Base, in the Townsville region and cover an area of about 1 sq km. The Agreement area falls within the Townsville Town Common Conservation Park being Lot 505NPW643 which is within the City of Townsville. |

The Townsville Town Common Indigenous Land Use Agreement (the ILUA) between the native title parties of the area, the Wulgurkaba and the Bindal peoples, and the Commonwealth of Australia, covers an area of land in the Townsville Town Common, on which a permanent water source and artificial habitat for birds and aquatic life will be constructed. This is in compensation for the effect on native title rights of the nearby Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) base development. The ILUA was not made to enable a future act to be done or validated under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth).
The agreement was made in conjunction with an agreement covering an area of land at the Townsville RAAF Base, to be used for defence purposes. |
