Tumbarumba Shire is located on the south western slopes of the Snowy Mountains, 504 kilometres south west of Sydney at 701 metres above sea level. The Shire Council provides goods, services and facilities appropriate to the current and future needs of local communities and of the wider public. As a major timber-producing region with national parks within its boundaries, the council and its officers are concerned with principles of ecologically sustainable development in carrying out its responsibilities.
