The Model Low Impact Exploration Access Agreement was developed by the New South Wales Minerals Council and the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council. It was created to assist exploration companies and native title claimants to reach agreement about land access. The agreement only covers applications for low impact exploration licences, and applications for determination of native title under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth). The Agreement is voluntary, but aims to provide certainty to the parties (see ISS and ACIL Consulting 2001: 23).
