    Summary Information:
The Western Australian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation Incorporated (WAACCHO) was formed in 1997. It is incorporated under the Western Australian Incorporations Associations Act 1987 (WA) and is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHOs) operating throughout Western Australia.

ACCHOs operate in the metropolitan area, regional centres and rural and remote areas of Western Australia. They are controlled by, and accountable to, Aboriginal people in those areas in which they operate.

WAACCHO is a full member of the Joint Planning Forum along with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission and State and Commonwealth Departments of Health. It derives its funding from both the Commonwealth and State of Western Australia, as well as from Oxfam Community Aid Abroad.

Its main objective is to provide holistic care which promotes and delivers Aboriginal health improvement and relieves poverty. In its constitution the term 'holistic' refers to '[...] physical, spiritual, social, economic and cultural well being [...]'.

WAACCHO is an affiliate to the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO).

WAACCHO has now been replaced by the Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia (AHCWA).
