The Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation (c2005) states that 'Larrakia is the language group name for the Aboriginal people of Darwin, of the greater Darwin region of the Northern Territory. Traditionally, Larrakia lands include[d] the Cox Peninsula, most of Gunn Point and much of rural Darwin. Darwin Harbour is also recognised as being within Larrakia country. Larrakia people are often referred to as "saltwater people", although [their] boundaries extend up to approximately 50km inland.' |
